Generally, the gasoline filter has only one stage, which is installed between the gasoline tank and the gasoline pump or between the gasoline pump and the carburetor. As there are three precision coupling parts in the diesel engine supply system, which require a high degree of diesel fuel cleanliness, and the diesel fuel has a high gum content, in order to improve the filtering efficiency, diesel filters generally have two or more stages, which are divided into diesel coarse and fine filters, also known as oil-water separator and diesel fine filter. They are respectively installed between the diesel tank and the fuel transfer pump, and between the fuel transfer pump and the fuel injection pump. Some diesel engines are also equipped with sediment cups to precipitate water and impurities in the diesel.
